AJDE ZORA

Ajde Zora – Italy

Romans d’Isonzo – Piazza Candussi, Thursday, July 6th, 9.15 p.m

A musical caravan exploring the Balkans, through frantic dances and moving ballads belonging to the gipsies that have been living there for centuries; the band is composed of four musicians and the Serbian singer Milica Polignano. She came up with the idea of extending the traditional Balkan repertoire by blending it with lively and moving tunes from the eastern european rom tradition and reworking into it traditional tunes where the energy and passion of folkloristic music erupts into frenetic dances and gloomy ballads belonging to the people who faced a difficult historical period. The band had the opportunity to collaborate with Erhan Veliov, who plays the trumpet in the outstanding Naat Veliov ‘s Original Kocani Orchestra .

Members: Milica Polignano – voice; Giulio Gavardi – guitar, saz, soprano saxophone and alto saxophone; Micol Tosatti – violin; Francesco Mattarello – accordion; Giorgio Marinaro – bass; Francesco Prearo – drums.
