The Curannera was the healer, a woman of the people who practiced folk medicine capable of healing from sore throats to headaches, from dislocations to the irregularity of women’s biological phases, through practices of various kinds and resorting, simultaneously and with great frequency, to natural science through the use of herbs, stones and amulets. Today she becomes the inspiring muse of the Yarákä, the perfect bridge between heaven and earth and between seemingly distant cultures, exorcising evil with tales, in a continuous confrontation between the materials of ethnomusicological research and more modern expressions.
