Tuesday 25 June<\/strong><\/span> at 9.15 pm in Romans d’Isonzo<\/strong><\/span> at Piazza Candussi<\/strong>, it is the turn of the Trieste-based Maxmaber Orkestar<\/strong>, composed by Lucy (violin), Max (accordion), Alberto (sax), Matteo (guitar), Fabio (double bass), and Sandro (drums).<\/p>\n

The Maxmaber Orkestar was formed in 2003 in\u00a0Trieste<\/strong>, the Austro-Hungarian port where Mitteleuropa meets the Mediterranean, a natural passage between Eastern and Western Europe.<\/p>\n

They left immediately for a journey through the\u00a0popular traditions of Eastern Europe and of the Mediterranean<\/strong>: klezmer, old Italian and Yugoslav songs, waltzes and mazurkas, Roma music, Bosnian sevdalinke, dances from Serbia and Macedonia intertwined in a cheerful and melancholic sound at the same time. From all these experiences, several original pieces were born, sung in the\u00a0Triestine dialect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Maxmaber Orkestar after Romans d\u2019Isonzo, will perform for Folkest 2019 also in Fiume Veneto<\/strong> at Piazza Bagellardo, on Friday 28 June<\/strong> at 9.15 pm.<\/p>\n

ROMANS D’ISONZO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Romans is a commune in the eastern province of Gorizia in Friuli, located near the confluence of three rivers:\u00a0Versa, Judrio<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Torre.<\/strong>\u00a0Its territory includes the hamlets of\u00a0Versa<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Fratta<\/strong>\u00a0too. The first evidence of existing settlements in the area regard a particular kind of pre-historic fortification called \u201ccastelliere\u201d. Traces of roman rural settlements have been found, but the most important historical presence in the area was longobard, as indicated by\u00a0one of the biggest longobard necropoleis in northern Italy. <\/strong>The\u00a0Civico Museo Archeologico<\/strong>\u00a0(archeologic civic museum) in Romans and the\u00a0Parco Didattico Archeologico<\/strong>\u00a0(acheologic didactic park) about the necropolis can be visited. In May \u00a0a reenactement event (Romans langobardorum<\/strong>) takes place in Romans. Also notable are the\u00a0Fiera di Santa Elisabetta<\/strong>\u00a0(Saint Elizabeth\u2019s Fair) and the\u00a0Sagre dal Dindiat<\/strong>, a fair where people compete about the weight of their giant turkeys. The\u00a0Carnival in Romans<\/strong>\u00a0is worth noting too, since it comprises a parade with carnival floats and masquerades.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
