Saturday 29 June<\/strong><\/span> the International Folk Festival will stop in three municipalities in Friuli: Spilimbergo, Artegna and Flaibano.<\/p>\n

LUNE TROUBLANTE<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 7.30 pm in Spilimbergo<\/strong><\/span> at the Eastern Tower, in collaboration with CRAF, Lune Troublante<\/strong> will perform. A trio or quartet of\u00a0jazz\/swing<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0jazz\/manouche music<\/strong>\u00a0composed by musicians from different musical realities, united by the musical passion for the 40s French swing.<\/p>\n

The trio or quartet is based on the classics of the\u00a0Gypsy-Jazz<\/strong>\u00a0tradition, a musical genre born in the 1940s in Paris thanks to the gypsy guitarist\u00a0Django Reinhardt<\/strong>\u00a0and the violinist\u00a0Stephan Grappelli<\/strong>\u00a0in the group\u00a0Quintette du Hot Club de France<\/strong>, which together united the American jazz-swing with the French folk music.<\/p>\n

Music is therefore blood and complex, full of rhythm and improvisational virtuosity. And the repertoire of the\u00a0Lune Troublante<\/strong>\u00a0ranges freely through the jazz\/manouche classics (the compositions of\u00a0Django Reinhardt<\/strong>, the French waltzes\/mousettes of the time), and the standards of American jazz (Duke Ellington,\u00a0Gershwin,\u00a0Porter<\/strong>, etc.).<\/p>\n

The show wants to be a music tribute to the formidable guitarist Django Reinhardt, retracing his story also with the help of short anecdotes and stories that contextualize his compositions in a particular historical moment.<\/p>\n

Over the years,\u00a0Lune Troublante<\/strong>\u00a0have also developed an original repertoire that blends the\u00a0gypsy<\/strong> tradition with a more modern elaboration of great rhythmic variety, melodic and with lyrics in Italian.<\/p>\n

The group differs itself from the others by the use of tools similar in terms of workmanship and type to the original instruments of the time, in particular to the amazing\u00a0Selmer\/Maccaferri guitars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

SPILIMBERGO<\/strong><\/p>\n

The small town near Pordenone was made of capital importance in the\u00a0music<\/strong>\u00a0scene by the presence of\u00a0Folkest,<\/strong>\u00a0but was also the birthplace of\u00a0neo-realist\u00a0photography<\/strong>\u00a0and the famous\u00a0mosaic school<\/strong>, where new talents are born every year. The town and many of the hamlets are dotted with monuments. The\u00a0cathedral,<\/strong>\u00a0a rare example of\u00a0gothic architecture <\/strong>from Friuli, is rich in both paintings and sculptures, and the nearby\u00a0castle<\/strong>\u00a0that belonged to the\u00a0dukes of Spilimbergo<\/strong>\u00a0deserves adequate attention too, as\u00a0Corso Roma<\/strong>\u00a0does: a boulevard that runs through the ancient gate of the castle walls with its two towers. The\u00a0San Giovanni Battista church<\/strong>\u00a0and its realistic crucifiction scenes, the\u00a0San Giuseppe and San Pantaleone churches<\/strong>, the\u00a0San Antonio Abate church in Barbeno<\/strong>, the\u00a0parish<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Tauriano<\/strong> with St Cristopher painted on the facade, the\u00a0parish<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Baseglia<\/strong>\u00a0with frescos by\u00a0Amalteo<\/strong> and the sculptures by\u00a0Pilacorte<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0Gaio church<\/strong>\u00a0make Spilimbergo\u00a0une of the artistically richest communes in Friuli.<\/strong> Heavily industrialized after World War Two, it is now the reference point for a wide area on the right bank of the Tagliamento.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SONAS<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 9.15 pm, the Sonas<\/strong> will perform in Artegna<\/strong><\/span> at the San Martino Hill<\/strong>. A Northern Ireland\u00a0<\/strong>group, formed by some of the most interesting young\u00a0Ulster <\/strong>talents, winners of various competitions and of an\u00a0All Ireland Young Championship<\/strong><\/em>. Some of them come from families that have given great interpreters to the Irish music.<\/p>\n

Following the path of great bands like\u00a0Altan <\/strong>or\u00a0North Cregg<\/strong>, they have in the strength of their overall sound the most relevant characteristic. They boast a repertoire composed of sweet ballads led by the beautiful voice of\u00a0Terry<\/strong>\u00a0and wild dances where the sounds of reed instruments and wind instruments intertwine.<\/p>\n

ARTEGNA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Placed on the left side of the vast Tagliamento vale, right between the southern slopes of\u00a0mount Cuarman<\/strong>\u00a0and the western slopes of\u00a0mount Feeit<\/strong>, Artegna takes a \u201cheart shaped figure\u201d, as Baldissera wrote in the early \u2018900. Its origins are ancient: both substancial celtic settlements and roman trade hubs were found here. Near the town center, it is possible to visit the Parco delle Rose<\/strong> (Rose Park) with its extraordinary all-year blooming. Passion and history alike are fundamental parts of the\u00a0enogastronomic tradition<\/strong> too, especially norcina, recognizable for the remarkable and \u201ctimeless\u201d taste of its products, celebrated in late November with the traditional Festa del Maiale<\/strong>\u00a0(Pork Fair) that takes place all around town and involves the whole community.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

TWO TIME POLKA<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the meantime, in Flaibano<\/strong><\/span>, at 9.15 pm in Piazza Monumento<\/span><\/strong>, there will be the Two Time Polka <\/strong>show. An explosive mixture of\u00a0cajun, bluegrass, rock\u2019n\u2019roll<\/strong>\u00a0and songs with a strong\u00a0social commitment<\/strong>: with five albums, Two Time Polka have repeatedly climbed the Irish radio charts and won the\u00a0Best Musical Act<\/strong><\/em>, voted unanimously from Irish festival organizers.<\/p>\n

A sextet of great musical quality, where\u00a0Ray Barron\u2019s maddening mandolin\u00a0<\/strong>stands out, for an evening of great entertainment for the public.<\/p>\n

FLAIBANO<\/strong><\/p>\n

The commune is placed in the middle Friuli, on the higher corner of the\u00a0Friulana plain<\/strong>. The main waterway, the\u00a0Tagliamento river<\/strong>, is the western border of the municipality, and its banks are part of the Tagliamento reserve.\u00a0<\/strong>Various roman \u2013time relics remain, mostly villas and storages. The name comes from the latin\u00a0Flevienus<\/strong>, a roman citizen who settled the place right after the birth of the town of\u00a0Aquileia.<\/strong>\u00a0Many buildings all around the commune are artistically relevant and some of them still retain exemplar works from influential painters and lapicides.\u00a0Villa Marangoni Masolini in San Odorico<\/strong>, built close to the gravelly banks of the Tagliamento, is also worth mentioning, It once was a benedictine monastery that managed the abbey and the ford, and collected the toll.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
