LEWIS McLAUGHLIN TRIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

The third appointment in July<\/strong><\/span> will be on Wednesday 3<\/strong> <\/span>in Dignano<\/strong><\/span> at the Civic Center<\/strong>, in Piazza Cimolino at 9.15 pm with the Scottish Lewis McLaughlin Trio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lewis McLaughlin<\/strong>\u00a0is a young folksinger and multi-instrumentalist from\u00a0Leith<\/strong>\u00a0(Edinburgh). Raised in direct contact with\u00a0Scottish musical traditions<\/strong>, he is influenced by\u00a0John Martyn, Bon Iver, Tom Waits<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Dylan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Live his guitars mix with the accordions and violin of\u00a0Ewen White<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Alastair Hambrey<\/strong>\u00a0in an exciting mixture of traditional songs alternated with new songs and compositions.<\/p>\n

DIGNANO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dignano is a municipality along the banks of the middle river\u00a0Tagliamento;<\/strong>\u00a0in addition to the chief town, it boasts the hamlets of\u00a0Bunz\u00ecc<\/strong>\u00a0(Bonzicco),\u00a0Cjarp\u00e2t<\/strong>\u00a0(Carpacco), and\u00a0Vidulis <\/strong>(Vidulis). As far as architecture is concerned, the following are to be remembered: the\u00a0church of Saints Peter and Paul<\/strong>\u00a0dating back to the 12th century, one of the oldest churches in Friuli, which has an apse frescoed with contemporary paintings and four eighteenth-century frescoes in the left nave; the\u00a0Pirona-Bisaror house<\/strong>\u00a0dating back to the 16th century, which is a rare example of a Carnic house in the middle Friuli, characterized by a fine facade with four tuff arches and with inside two large 18th century frescoes; the\u00a0Pirona house<\/strong>\u00a0that gave birth to\u00a0Jacopo Pirona,\u00a0author of the first vocabulary of the Friulian language.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

HOODMAN BLIND<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also, on Wednesday 3 July<\/strong><\/span>, the Irish band Hoodman Blind<\/strong> will perform in Auronzo di Cadore <\/strong><\/span>in the San Giustina Church<\/strong> in Via Roma. The young trio from Limerick<\/strong>, in the County of Clare<\/strong>, which is one of the richest in terms of music, was formed in 2016. They immediately inserted their great love for the music of Finland<\/strong> and Sweden<\/strong> in their compositions, that alternate with traditional Irish songs<\/strong>. In these few years they have been able to build a solid reputation, which has led them to perform at the top festivals\u00a0Other Voices<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Electric Picnic<\/strong><\/em>, as well as the\u00a0Kaustinen Festival in Finland<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

AURONZO DI CADORE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The municipality of Auronzo extends over a very large area, including the towns of\u00a0Cima Gogna<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Misurina,<\/strong>\u00a0with the homonymous Lake Misurina. The area is crossed by the\u00a0Ansiei<\/strong>\u00a0river which, thanks to the damming of the ancient dam, forms the artificial lake of Santa Caterina, better known as\u00a0Lake Auronzo.<\/strong>\u00a0The origin of the toponym is still uncertain, but a theory to be taken into consideration brings the origin of it closer to the Eboruntii or Aboruntii, which would have been the ancient inhabitants of Cadore. The first archaeological evidence in the Val d\u2019Ansiei that could suggest a settlement of the ancient inhabitants, mentioned before, in the Roman period was discovered in the last years of the twentieth century; although three hundred years earlier a historian named Giovanni Candido had already written in the account of his journey between Friuli and Cadore of a place called \u201cAuronzo, where many vestiges of antiquity are seen\u201d. In the nineties, at the\u00a0Molin house<\/strong>\u00a0in Via Tarin, the first Roman structures were found. From that moment on, the discoveries followed one another at a rapid pace: on\u00a0Mount Calvario<\/strong>, behind the church of\u00a0Santa Giustina in Villagrande,<\/strong>\u00a0one ofthe most important archaeological sites in the Veneto\u00a0<\/strong>is being excavated; a place of worship active since the 2nd century BC to the IV century AD. The inscriptions on the site demonstrate the use of the Venetian writing up to at least the whole of the 1st century AD, much later than in other places of the Venetian plain, becoming in this way the missing link for the birth of\u00a0Runic writing<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
