The selections for the Alberto Cesa Award<\/strong>, organised by Folkest<\/strong>, the festival dedicated to world music that will be held its final evenings in Spilimbergo<\/strong>, have just concluded. The award has carved out a prominent place for itself among national music competitions, attracting the attention of RAI Radio 1<\/strong>, which has decided to support and sponsor the event, as well as the Nuovo Imaie<\/strong>, which has added a substantial cash prize to the Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Award, now in its seventeenth edition, is designed to enhance all music that, beyond being classified as folk, folk-rock, ethnic, ethno-jazz, world, new acoustic, minimalist, guitar, songwriter, storyteller, street artist<\/em> (with prevailing musical activity), can give voice to one or more cultural roots of any part of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was created to pay homage to a great artist such as Alberto Cesa<\/strong>, voice and hurdy-gurdy of Cantovivo, a Piedmontese and a great friend of Folkest, one of the pioneering groups of Italian folk music who, over forty years ago, made it clear that singing in a minor language or dialect is not to be on the fringes, but to increase one’s expressive potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2022 Award<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The organisation of the Award is supervised by the Folkest festival management, the editorial staff of www.folkbulletin.com<\/a> and the Cultural Association Folkgiornale<\/strong>; about twenty associations and institutions from various parts of Italy collaborate, where the live selections of the participating artists take place from year to year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
