Nubras is an international ensemble that aims at building a bridge between classical music, jazz and popular traditions from the Balkans and the Middle East. A trio of classically trained female string musicians meets the jazz and folk elements of the group. The result is Nubras: a journey in a chamber music dimension between tradition and modernity, moments of celebration, and intimate snapshots of Eastern European villages. In Arabic and Urdu, Nubras has multiple meanings: it is the courageous person, but also the lantern that opens new paths.
