SIR OLIVER SKARDY E I FATTI QUOTIDIANI

Italy

The story of Sir Oliver Skardy, born Gaetano Scardicchio, is inseparably linked to that of Italy’s most popular reggae band, Pitura Freska. As mayor of Marghera in its revival phase, advocate for marijuana legalization, and spokesperson for musicians overlooked by the media due to lack of sex appeal, Skardy is a prominent figure in the Venetian music scene. He represents the popular soul of Italian songs tied to the suburbs, the desire for redemption, and social peace.

Using both Venetian dialect and Italian, Skardy addresses politics, love, news events, and current affairs with straightforwardness, genuine popular anger, considerable self-irony, and musical taste. Skardy’s exceptional songwriting talent has produced some of Italy’s musical history, such as the remarkable fresco on Pink Floyd in “Venezia Pin Floi” and the anti-prohibition anthem “Fahrenheit 451”.

“Fa un spritz” symbolizes this phase of the Venetian artist, before the birth of MISS (Made In Italy Sound System), where he worked with Fricchetti Selector on the console and Baby on vocals, creating an interesting and particular process of selection and reinterpretation of Italian productions. This journey culminates in “Figa e sfiga”, an album collecting the best songs written in recent years, Skardy’s most “personal” record. Besides writing music and lyrics, Skardy personally oversaw all stages of production, from recording to mixing.
