Folkest 2019

More than 50 events spread between June, July and August for a Folkest summer that celebrated its 41 years to all music (but not only). The festival took place in 22 municipalities of Friuli Venezia Giulia including Sauris, Duino, Tramonti di Sopra, Pulfero, Romans d’Isonzo, Travesio, with some significant appointments in Gorizia, Spilimbergo, Udine, the nearby Capodistria and, new this edition, Auronzo di Cadore. Folkest enjoys the important recognition and sponsorship of UNESCO, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic, the Mibact – Ministry of Fine Arts and Culture of the Italian Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, the Presidency of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Fondazione Friuli, ARLeF, the Municipality of Spilimbergo, the Municipality of Udine, the Municipality of Capodistria.
Among the guests of this edition, programmed by artistic director Andrea Del Favero, the duo Shel Shapiro – Maurizio Vandelli in ‘Love and Peace Tour (Udine, July 9th), the timeless formation of PFM (Capodistria, July 20th) engaged in ‘TVB-The very best tour‘ (free admission) and the Canadian singer-songwriter Loreena McKennitt, international star of folk music who performed on July 22 in the square of the castle of Udine.

Bringing culture where there are people, was from the beginning the founding idea of Folkest, a multicolored festival born thanks to the contribution of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the fundamental support of the Fondazione Friuli, Which are joined by the local municipalities and organizations of the various locations affected and whose artistic choices for years have made known this event throughout Europe confirming it as an ideal stage to reveal new talents to the eye of the European public.
