A very prestigious guest is added to this Folkest 2023: at the tail end of the events of this great festival among the sounds of national and international folk and beyond (June 15-July 3), on August 7, the Castle of Udine will host the legendary Randy Brecker with the Orchestra of the Accademia Musicale Naonis under the direction of Maestro Valter Sivilotti, Glauco Venier at the piano, in a multifaceted program dedicated to the greats of the 20th century such as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and George Gershwin: a tribute to great American music made magical by the trumpet of Brecker, one of the most important jazz musicians of the last fifty years. The arrangements are by Maestro Sivilotti himself, signed four hands with Michele Corcella, a composer and conductor who has become famous for writing and arranging for the most famous artists from the world of songwriting including Silvio Rodriguez, Sergio Endrigo, Edoardo De Angelis, Tosca, Bruno Lauzi, Omara Portuondo, Ron, and Elisa.
Winner of several Grammy Awards, Brecker has performed on the world’s most important stages and boasts collaborations with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Lou Reed, Frank Zappa and Ringo Starr, and Liza Minnelli. A composer as well as a trumpeter and flugelhorn player, he has become famous for his versatility and rich sound that is not afraid to cross styles and music even far apart.
Recall that, among the guests chosen by Folkest artistic director Andrea Del Favero for this edition, we also find: 99 Posse, Xavier Rudd, Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, Riccardo Tesi, Massimo Priviero and Scarlet Rivera.
