The A3 Apulia Project is the brainchild of Fabio Bagnato, an author, composer and guitarist who specializes in the study and dissemination of the chitarra battente, a classic instrument in the folk tradition of southern Italy. The name of the project recalls that of the most famous highway in the South (the Salerno – Reggio Calabria), because, just as the A3 highway is an important artery that connects different points in the South, in the same way the music of the A3 Apulia Project stands as a link for an ideal journey to the Mediterranean Sea, which has always been the bearer of new cultures that mingle with the ancient traditions of Southern Italy. The sounds of the beating guitar, accordion and tambourine thus go side by side with more modern ones, such as that of the electric bass, cajon (a classic instrument of the South American tradition) and drums.
