ARS NOVA JAZZ WORLD ENSEMBLE

Italia

The music of this ensemble derives from a decade of personal research by Roberto Manuzzi, a professor at the Frescobaldi Conservatory in Ferrara, in the field of Mediterranean folk music, studying the characteristics of the cultural melting pot of the early Middle Ages, a world far more vibrant and multicultural than we have been accustomed to thinking. Manuzzi particularly delved into the study of the texts of Giacomo (Jacopo) da Lentini, referred to by historians as the inventor of the metrical form of the sonnet. The splendid voice of Rachele Amore completes and defines the ensemble’s sonorities, thanks also to its roots deeply linked to Sicilian folk music: And it is no coincidence that Rachele Amore, lead voice of the ensemble, is originally from Lentini itself.
