Morrigan’s Wake, or The Awakening of Morrigan (literally queen of demons or great queen), takes its name from one of the three goddesses of war worshipped in the cult of pagan Ireland, along with Badb and Neiman. The group was born in Ravenna in the summer of 1981, first proposing a repertoire of Breton dances and Irish resistance ballads, gradually widening the attention to dance music from Scotland, Wales and Ireland itself. This band is a piece of history of this musical genre in Italy.
