Tramonti di Sopra

TRAMONTI DI SOPRA

In friulian "Tramont di Sore".

The municipality is located at 426 meters above sea level in the upper Val Tramontina, within the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park along State Road 552 of the Rest Pass. Surrounded by the southeastern Carnic Prealps (Chiarescons-Cornaget-Resettum Chain), the area’s side valleys host the artificial lakes Ca’ Zul and Ca’ Selva, and the nearby Emerald Pools, formed by the Meduna stream, are of particular natural interest.

In 1976, the municipality was devastated by the Friuli earthquake, which caused enormous collapses and damage. There is a Waldensian evangelical church in town.
