→ TORRE ORIENTALE

18.00 Alberto Geatti – You’ve never been mine, you just sat side by side

Illustrations and poems by Alberto Geatti – introduces Andrea Ioime

… Tiziana: she would have been before our eyes in the words and drawings of Alberto, and it is still today for anyone who meets him and his compositions. It was in fact creativity that gave shape to his feeling and our path, without knowing that the point of arrival would have been this book … The time of sorrow is a painful and complex time; even if it can be a great opportunity: confrontation with oneself and own’s emotions, but also of evolution and change. It is a hidden time … Transformation, evolution, possibility and creativity in art as in life, even through a time of dramatic pain, seem to explode in the drawing on the back cover: a blackboard with a white paper. There is always a page to write in life.

19.30 Claudio Trotta – No pasta no show – I miei 40 anni di musica dal vivo in Italia

Claudio Trotta – No pasta no show  – introduces Andrea Ioime

Claudio Trotta was born in Milan in 1957, is one of the most esteemed and important producers and independent promoters of live shows in the world. After several years of experience in the free radio stations of the seventies, in 1979 he founded Barley Arts, of which he is still owner and soul. Since then he organized more than fifteen thousand events in Italy and around the world and worked with many artists, including Bruce Springsteen, AC / DC, Kiss, Sting, David Bowie, Metallica, Frank Zappa, Elio and Storie Tese, Renato Zero, Ligabue , Negramaro.A real rockstar, at least to hear the stories of those who worked with or for him. . Despite – admits candidly Trotta – do not know “I do not ring the bell”, and often live “with the feeling of being enough crazy”.A generis rockstar that, after forty years of career, decided to tell his story in the book No pasta no show (clear reference to the request made by more than one artist), an autobiography that is at the same time the story a piece of history of the Italian and international music scene, narrated from a particular perspective: behind a stage. And it is no coincidence that he has chosen to name the presentation tour in the Italian bookshop Whole Trotta tour , recalling a famous piece by Led Zeppelin.

→ PIAZZA GARIBALDI

21.15 Carantan – Friuli

The term Carantan indicated the five cents of the old lire in use at the beginning of the twentieth century, and since then in the Friulian popular culture this name has always been the synonym of something recently, tu valis mancul of a carantan. For almost twenty years, the Carantans have been researching and reproducing the Friulian musical heritage from the 16th century to the most recent times, also encroaching on the traditional repertoire of Northern Italy and Istria. An evolution of folk that is not easy to wander in multi-ethnicity or easy contamination, but a harmonious research of space and suggestions, also witnessed by the new record, which will be presented at Folkest.
Training: Glauco Toniutti – violin, bagpipe, mandolin, spoons and voice; Andrea Barachino – classical guitar, acoustic, mandola, voice; Stefano Durat – diatonic harmonics, percussions; Caterina Vidon – violoncello.

22.30 Alzamantes – Lombardia

The Alzamantes are the revelation folk-rock band, that best represents the evolution of the Italian Balfolk panorama. The Italian and European folk dances reproposed in a unique and unmistakable format, modern and overwhelming sounds, enrich a vast ethnomusical repertoire that ranges from the Pizziche Salentine to the Irish Gighe. A journey that traces, through an energetic and bursting concert, the musical and dancing traditions for a show to dance. The format is rock, the heart is folk … but the authentic one! They come to Folkest2018 as guests of honor, after having been winners of the 2017 edition of the Suonare @ Folkest competition through the selections of the Suonare @ Folkest competition.
Training: Dario Tornaghi – voice and accordion, Maddalena Soler – voice and violin, Filippo Ferrari – voice, electric guitar; Mirko Grilli: acoustic guitar; Angelo Merico: electric bass; Stefano Migliavacca: drums and percussion.

→ PIAZZA DUOMO

21.15 Franco Giordani – Friuli
He began his career in the rock bands Klautans, Top Secret, Lollipop and Bottle of Smoke. In 2004 he began a long artistic association with Luigi Maieron and participated in the shows With the sky and the woods, I Turcs tal Friûl and Three men of speech with Toni Capuozzo and Mauro Corona. She is a finalist at the Festival della Canzone Friulana in the editions 2010, 2012, 2015 and in 2016 she wins the Festival della Canzone of Friuli Venezia Giulia with Megan Stefanutti. He collaborates with several artists, including the Friulian singer-songwriter Lino Straulino and the Emilia group Mè Pek and Barba. In 2015 he released his debut album Incuintretimp, a finalist for the Targa Tenco 2015. In the autumn of 2017 Truòisparìs was released, a concept album on his homeland, Valcellina.

22.00 Irdorath – Bielorussia
Vladimir and Nadezhda met like poor students, with the idea of creating a music without boundaries of genres, with various influences, where the idea of fantasy was the core. And the first instrumental nucleus were their two bagpipes. The group has slowly widened until the current formation that offers a show that, after having abandonete the medievalist line, today aims at a very original and personal style.
Training: Vladimir – bagpipes, didgeridoos, vocal defects; Nadezhda – voice, bagpipe, hurdy-gurdy, keyboards, flutes, Anton :string instruments and percussion; Varello – drums, Pedro – stringed instruments, Yulia – violin.
